Vangelis Giozis
vangelis-giozis1 (55K) The Blue Bar is where I personally learnt to love Massive Attack, Calexico, Solomon Burke, Cab Calloway, Nina Simone, Billy Holiday and many many more.

Vangelis' musical knowledge of performers is truly amazing and any evening at the Blue Bar is a musical adventure. Early evening he tends to play new artists, experimenting with with unfamiliar sounds. From mid evening he shepherds us onto more familiar ground of oldies and big name artists.

Although his personal musical preference is for Van Morrison and John Dillon, he owns over 9,000 CDs of which 2,500 are his own compilations. Mostly soul, blues, rock, jazz and some ethnic.

Born in Florina, Northern Greece Vangelis was a volleyball amateur before attending a Food and Beverage course. He gained experience as bar man and disk jockey in Cos and Haldiki before starting out on his own in 1992, in Skopelos, with the Blue Bar. He is a joint owner of a cafe in Thessaloniki where he now spends the winters to be near to his two children.

It looks like Vangelis and Giorgos (of Platinos Jazz Bar) are teaming up to run the Blue Bar! Sounds wonderful and I am looking forward to what promises to be an exciting and different Blue Bar next year!
